Why take out a pre-paid Funeral Plan?

Over the last 2 decades, funeral costs have risen in excess of the annual rate of inflation. A funeral plan is a means by which people can protect their loved ones against rising funeral costs and help eliminate any uncertainty or indecision regarding what a person's preferred arrangements should include.

What happens when I die?

Once the plan holder passes away, the representatives of the deceased have informed Safe Hands Funeral Plans will arrange for the deceased to be collected and taken to a chapel of rest that is local to wherever the funeral is to take place. However, any transport costs over 20 miles will be charged at whatever the funeral director's standard charge for mileage happens to be at that time (this additional charge would be payable by the Plan holder's representatives, directly to the funeral director).

What happens once I’ve taken out a plan?

You will receive a membership pack with a summary of the plan information and, a certificate containing your plan number. If you have chosen to pay by fixed monthly payments, We may also call you to make sure you are happy with the details of your plan and payment choice.

Can I buy a plan for a member of my family?

Yes, simply complete simple application with us and we will do the rest.

Can I choose my own Funeral Director?

Customers can nominate any independent firm of funeral directors, anywhere in the UK. However, if, when the Plan Holder passes away, their nominated, preferred, firm is, for any reason, unavailable or unwilling to undertake the service at that time, then it will instead be conducted by an alternative, local, reputable, firm at the plan providers discretion.

What if I move home?

Provided the new location you move to is within the UK, then your funeral plan will not be affected.

What happens if my Funeral Director goes out of business?

We will inform you if this happens and appoint a new funeral director of your choice. However If, for any reason, the customer's nominated preferred firm is unavailable to undertake the service at that time, it will instead be conducted by an alternative, reputable, firm at the funeral providers discretion.

What if I have special requests for my funeral?

If you have any special requests at your funeral, please just let us know of your wishes and we will do our very best to accommodate. "If these incur additional costs, not covered by your plan, you will need to cover these additional costs at the time of the funeral.

What if I change my mind?

If you cancel within your agreement cancellation terms, the plan provider will refund the payment you have made., please see the terms and conditions.

Will the Funeral Director who undertakes the Funeral be Local?

In the case of the majority of the pre-paid funeral plans we market, customers can nominate any independent firm of funeral directors, anywhere in the UK. However, if, when the Plan Holder passes away, their nominated, preferred, firm is, for any reason, unavailable or unwilling to undertake the service at that time, then it will instead be conducted by an alternative, local, reputable, firm at the pre-paid funeral plan providers discretion.

What is not included in a Funeral Plan?

The Pre-paid funeral plans tend to include everything that is required for a traditional burial or cremation (burial plot must be purchased separately). You may order or request any number of special additions (frequently at no extra cost). We will ensure that you fully understand exactly what is included within your funeral plan at the time of purchase.

What happens if the plan holder dies away from home but is in the UK?

No, your funeral plan is not a substitute for your will, you must ensure you have an effective will in place that will document your wishes to what happens with your estate when you die.
